Everyone's invited to the Gardner for Neighborhood Nights, a series of fun and free interactive evenings for you and your family. Enjoy music, performance, food trucks, cash bar, gallery games, and hands-on creative experimentation inside the Museum and out. Neighborhood Nights are informed by themes in the special exhibition Life, Death & Revelry.
PROGRAM FOR THE EVENING
Calderwood Hall // Vessel, 7-8 pm
Vessel is a commissioned dance theater piece by Marsha Parrilla, artistic director of Danza Orgánica. Vessel uses the Sarcophagus (Sacred Passage), and the history of the Transatlantic Slave Trade (Middle Passage) as a point of departure to explore and question historic narratives and bring forth a fresh outlook on life, death, and revelry.
Courtyard // 5:30-8:30 pm
Musicians Ruby Rose Fox and Josh Knowles play from their new solo works, Salt and Spin Without A Sound.
Bertucci Education Studio // 5-8:30 pm
Calling all artist apprentices! Sculptor Peter Evonuk invites you to try your hand at carving in low relief. Join in the long tradition of artists carving plaster maquettes to plan their masterworks in stone. Inspired by our Farnese Sarcophagus, the central piece of our exhibition Life, Death & Revelry.
Living Room // 6 & 7:30 pm
Life Cycle of a Pastry with Neighborhood Salon Luminary and award-winning pastry chef Hana Quon of Café Madeleine.
