Neighbor Brigade Plans "The Great Spring Escape" Fundraiser

Celebrating ten years of neighbors helping neighbors, Neighbor Brigade (www.neighborbrigade.org) is hosting “The Great Spring Escape,” a very special evening of online comedy and adventure. The online event will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and are available online at http://www.neighborbrigade.org/news.

“After spending months of quarantining, we all need to break free and enjoy a little escape,” said Polly Hunt Mendoza, Neighbor Brigade executive director. “With 27 Massachusetts chapters managing thousands of volunteers who are busier than ever safely helping neighbors with rides, meals and more, ‘The Great Spring Escape’ is a creative and caring way for our volunteers and supporters to enjoy an evening of escape while elevating our mission of neighbors helping neighbors.”

One volunteer explained why she is part of Neighbor Brigade: “I enjoy the feeling of helping someone in need. I do not need the recognition; the process is its own reward. The small effort [of walking the dog of a client that is blind] makes a big difference for her and her dog. I have been retired for four years. Neighbor Brigade fits my schedule very well.”

Neighbor Brigade is an army of neighbors working together to help any neighbor experiencing a temporary crisis (COVID, other illness, cancer, surgery, death in the family, house fire, etc.). With 27 local chapters and scheduling software (and mobile application) provided free to chapter leaders, this network of local volunteers is organized and ready to help with grocery shopping, access to food pantries, meal preparation/delivery, and rides to medical appointments or vaccine clinics. Volunteers may also help at one of Neighbor Brigade’s special events like Pam’s Run or with marketing or administrative services.
