“Need I Paint More?” is an exploration of social justice through live painting, that hopes to fill the void of the connection between audiences and artists.
“Need I Paint More? An Exploration of Social Justice Through Live Painting” hopes to fill the void of the connection between audiences and artists. This event allows art lovers to experience the creation of art in real time and participate in a discussion with the artists.
During “Need I Paint More,” audience members will have the opportunity to watch as artists create live paintings based on a social justice prompt that communities of color across Greater Boston face. They can anonymously submit questions for each artist that will be answered during a discussion once the allotted painting time is over. Following the panel discussion, a silent auction will be open for audience members to bid on and purchase the paintings. Partial proceeds will provide a stipend for the artists and support future BAMS Fest Prelude programming.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Boston Cultural Council, a local agency which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, administered by the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.
