Are you interested in observing nature more closely and fully? Has nature journaling piqued your interest or do you need inspiration to keep going with a journal? Everyone has what it takes to start having a closer relationship with nature through simple nature journaling and sensory exercises. Now is a great time to do it and Old Manse is the perfect place!
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Old Manse landscape, and draw on its rich history as a writer’s retreat. Ralph Waldo Emerson and Nathaniel Hawthorne both called the Manse home for a time and each found inspiration here! In this 2-hour workshop, you will be guided to wake up your senses, learn how to identify a few of our local plants, and put awakening observation skills into words and images.
No experience in writing or drawing necessary, just an interest in sharing your delight in the natural world! Bring a notebook or sketchbook and be prepared to sit in the landscape.
Join naturalist Seal LaMadeleine, founder and director of Deer Paths Nature School. Seal brings a background in creative writing and journalism as well as 15 years’ experience as an environmental education teacher at Deer Paths, the Hitchcock Center for the Environment, and other local agencies.
