Duke University professor and historian Nancy MacLean's Democracy in Chains, a National Book Award Finalist, spotlights the heretofore hidden efforts of the Koch brothers and other right-leaning libertarian billionaires over the past forty years to undermine democratic institutions and undo FDR's New Deal. If there's agreement that our politics and civic life have gone off the tracks, MacLean's research suggests why. MacLean’s talk, free and open to the public, is presented by theSalem State University’s History Department, Economics Department, Graduate School, and Center for Research and Creative Activities. Additional sponsors include the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Marblehead , the Marblehead Democratic Town Committee, and unchaindemocracy.org.
