In this stunning period-piece set during the critical 1993 Nigerian election, two young boys and their father, Folarin, journey into and around Lagos. As the trio navigates a city on the precipice of democratic crisis, and further details of Folarin’s life emerge, the strain in their connection becomes increasingly clear.


Written by director Akinola Davies Jr. with his brother Wale and drawing on their recollections of their own father, MY FATHER’S SHADOW deftly and achingly depicts the moment when the mystery of adulthood begins to break down in a child’s eyes.
