Take a look at the List Center’s exhibitions from a new perspective. Join Hane Lee of the MIT Media Lab Opera of the Future group to discover more about Introducing Tony Conrad: A Retrospective. The talk will focus on experimental music in regards to the development of technology. Lee will begin to examine the technological significance of experimental music techniques from Conrad’s time in contrast to its’ ubiquity of music technologies in use today often leading to an experience-oriented and multi-sensory performance.
About the Speaker
Hane Lee is a Research Assistant in the Opera of the Future group at the MIT Media Lab and amateur pianist specializing in classical-contemporary music. Hane’s research interests include self discovery and identity exploration through music, immersive musical experiences, and layered soundscapes. Much of their inspiration comes from many philosophy and political identity texts, their classical-contemporary piano practice, and their math-heavy background. Recently, they have been wondering how to create a sense of freedom through sound.
Hane holds an undergraduate degree from MIT in electrical engineering with a minor in music.
About the Series
