The Museum of Science is excited for the return of SYREN Modern Dance. In April 2024, Museum of Science hosted SYREN for a creative residency where the company embarked on the creation of a new piece exploring artificial intelligence, neural networks, machine learning and consciousness through the lens of dance. Now the premiere performance of “At the Table, Humanity at the Dawn of AI” on October 3, 2025, at 7:30pm will be held at Museum of Science, 1 Science Park, Boston, MA 02114. Tickets are $10 for general admission and can be purchased in advance or at the door on the evening of the performance

Today, when we talk about humanity, artificial intelligence is in the room. Many of the ways we are inclined as a public to engage with this reality can originate from a place of defensiveness. What would happen if we took a different approach? What if we not only allowed AI in the room, but invited it to the table?

Through "At the Table", SYREN journeys into the complicated experience of being human at the onset of the AI era, embracing the questions of this age with joy and tenderness, curiosity just as much as caution. Central to this journey is the acceptance – even celebration – of the ways in which AI may, in fact, get us even closer to our own humanity. SYREN believes that this journey is a collective one and aims to empower audiences to actively partake in the process of ingesting and shaping this new technology, and its role in the future of our species. Most importantly, SYREN seeks to remind its audience that science – like art – belongs in the hands of the public.

“At the Table” is choreographed by Kate Sutter to music composed by Lauren Cregor, and is performed by Alice Chacon, Rivkins Christopher, Jessica Nolan, Lynn Peterson and Roxanne Potes. Performers on the musical recording include Lauren Cregor-Pianist, Vocalist, Doori Na-Violin, Emily Brausa-Cello, Alex Weinstein-Music Producer.

The creation of "At the Table" was made possible thanks to the support of SYREN's individual donors, Museum of Science-Boston, NXTHVN, a commissioning grant from the O'Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation, as well as with the collaboration of former SYREN Company Member Victoria Ellis.

About SYREN Modern Dance is a women-founded and directed non-profit organization based in New York City. In 2022, the artists of SYREN were named Cultural Ambassadors by the United States Department of State. For over two decades, SYREN has been inviting artists, audiences, students and educators into the process of making and experiencing modern dance. In the U.S.A., SYREN has shared dance in 16 states and across the ocean in France, The United Arab Emirates, and Germany. SYREN was founded in 2003 by Kate Sutter and Lynn Peterson, upon graduating from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase, where they nurtured a deep passion and drive to create SYREN and its mission to share Modern Dance broadly and inclusively. In addition to hundreds of individuals, SYREN has received support from the following foundations and programs: The O’Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation, CT Office of the Arts, Mid Atlantic Arts through USArtists International, a program in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Trust of Mutual Understanding, Aleph Fund, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Dance/NYC, Jewish Community Fund, Queens Council on the Arts, Particle Fever, Harkness Space Grants (92nd Street Y), The Chelsea Art Museum, and by residencies at DanceNOW/NYC's Silo and DTW's Outer/Space.
