Are you looking for honest, supportive feedback on your work — or simply want to be part of a vibrant creative conversation?
CAA MiniCrit is a facilitated monthly, work-in-progress critique group hosted by the Cambridge Art Association, open to emerging, mid-career, and professional artists of all levels and training. MiniCrit is designed to give artists structured feedback, an honest dialogue, and a supportive, professional community that can be so hard to find outside of a formal academic setting.
The three presenting artists will share their work-in-progress with the group in an intimate and supportive environment. A different visiting artist or arts professional will facilitate each month, guiding the conversation and bringing fresh perspective and professional insight to every session. All mediums and disciplines are welcome — strong facilitation draws on universal principles of composition, color, concept, and form that apply across every artistic practice.
The three presenting artist spots are limited and sold first come, first served. General attendance spots are open to all.
Critique Format
6:00–6:30 — Refreshments, introductions, and casual conversation.
6:30–7:00 — First artist presents (10 min presentation / 10 min facilitated feedback / 10 min open group dialogue)
7:00–7:10 — Short break
7:10–7:40 — Second artist presents (10 min presentation / 10 min facilitated feedback / 10 min open group dialogue)
7:40–7:50 — Short break
7:50–8:20 — Third artist presents (10 min presentation / 10 min facilitated feedback / 10 min open group dialogue)
8:20–8:30 — Wrap up

Wednesday, September 23 Facilitator:Erica Licea-Kane has had a long career as a studio artist and college art instructor, including 17 years as the Gallery Director at Wheelock College. She received her BFA at the Parsons School of Design, and her MFA at the Massachusetts College of Art, earning both degrees in the area of fine art textiles. Erica has exhibited her work extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Erica has been the recipient of several grants and fellowships including the 2018 Artist Fellowship in Painting from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Blanche E. Colman Award, the A.R.T Grant from the Berkshire Community Foundation, and a regional fellowship from the New England Foundation for the Arts of the National Endowment For the Arts.
