Barely 20 years old, piano and organ phenomenon Matthew Whitaker is one of the most exciting rising talents to emerge in years. Recognized as a prodigy since he was a child, Whitaker won the prestigious Amateur Night at the Apollo at age nine, and by 15 he was the youngest artist ever endorsed by either Yamaha or Hammond, both of whom still include him among their ranks. Whitaker isn’t just good for his age, however; just two years ago, at age 18, his astonishing gifts led a neuroscientist to personally study his brain (as seen on 60 Minutes).
On top of being an unbelievable instrumentalist, Whitaker also happens to be an award-winning composer and an acclaimed bandleader whose an unrelenting energy uplifts his bands and audiences alike. Whitaker now performs on many of the world’s most renowned stages, and Celebrity Series is proud to present his first-ever appearance in Boston!
