In this Manuscript Gilding class, taught by a professional calligrapher, students will be introduced to the centuries-old technique of applying 23 karat gold leaf to paper or vellum using essentially the same technique used in medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts. Designed to be the fourth of a four-part series of one-day calligraphy related workshops: Sketching Workshop, Visit to the Boston Public Library Rare Books Room, Versal and Lombardic Caps, and Manuscript Gilding. This course can be taken alone or combined with the others.
