Three Latinx organizations in Massachusetts, Hyde Square Task Force, Amplify Latinx, and Ágora Cultural Architects, come together to keep Latino culture buzzing with #CadenciaLatina: Performances from home.
On June 4th at 7pm, Manolo Mairena and Leo Blanco will be performing an array of songs on Facebook Live. Manolo Mairena is a Costa Rican vocalist and percussionist based in Boston. Mairena has played in groups such as La Clave Secreta, Mango Blue, Cinco Son and Balaton and remains an important voice in the Boston music scene, performing Latin rhythms such as Bolero, Salsa, and cuban beats, among others. He will be joined by pianist and composer, Leo Blanco. Blanco’s music is inspired by a blend of his Venezuelan heritage as well as Afro Carribean, North American, and European classics. Leo Blanco, who is currently a faculty member at Berklee School of Music in Boston, has made a name for himself in the jazz scene as a talented composer and pianist and has played at various international music festivals. Tune in to listen to this powerful duo on Leo Blanco’s Facebook Page and enjoy this amazing performance from the safety of your home.

While we have your attention ;) : Let’s make sure Latinxs are seen and heard every day. Take the opportunity to visit https://2020census.gov/ and fill out the Census. Latinxs make up an undercounted group, which puts us at a disadvantage that could mean less funding and political voice.
