On Saturday April 15th at Third Life Studio, I'm very pleased to present veteran Boston pianist Bert Seager's incredible quartet Tetraptych as they celebrate the release of their debut CD. Pronounced “Te-trup-tick,” the word refers to a four-paneled painting in which each panel can stand on its own, and in which the whole is more than the sum of the parts. Tetraptych is Bert on piano & compositions, Hery Paz on tenor saxophone, Max Ridley on bass & Dor Herskovits on drums. Andrew Stern will open the evening with a short set of music for solo guitar.
No less an authority than acclaimed pianist Fred Hersch says, “Tetraptych is the work of a true working band. The superb strengths of the individual players - Hery Paz is a revelation and the rhythm section is marvelous - are always in service of the music. I have followed Bert Seager for 30 years, and I feel that this the strongest project yet from an artist who is always searching for a more personal expression. A wonderful album in every way.”
