A traditional Lion Dance will be accompanied by drum and cymbal musicians to welcome the Year of The Rabbit
WHAT: Mandarin Oriental, Boston, the recently renovated Five-Star luxury hotel located in Boston’s Back Bay, is celebrating its company’s Asian heritage and the Chinese Lunar New Year on Monday, January 23.
Members of the media are invited to gather images and b-roll of the lively lion dance from 12:00PM to 12:30PM. The lion dance will be performed by Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy. It has been part of Chinese culture for thousands of years and is performed on auspicious occasions such as Chinese New Year to chase away evil spirits and bring happiness, longevity, and good luck. The lion dancers will be accompanied by drum and cymbal musicians to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.
The Year of the Rabbit runs from January 22, 2023 to February 9, 2024, and is predicted to be a year of hope. The Rabbit is the fourth sign in Chinese astrology, and it is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity. People born in the Year of the Rabbit are said to be gentle, kind, social, witty, quick-minded, ingenious, and very responsible. They are most compatible with Goats, Dogs and Pigs. The element attached to this year’s Rabbit is water, which provides fluidity, calmness, and nourishment.
Mandarin Oriental, Boston is also celebrating Chinese New Year with a Year of the Rabbit package: Guests will enjoy daily breakfast for two, receive an “Inner Strength” Spa Treatment, and an auspicious welcome with our “Good Fortune” amenities and Lai-See Packets (Red Envelopes) to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Offer will be valid from January 20 to February 6; priced starting at USD 1025 per night plus taxes and gratuities.
