Join us from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 for a gallery reception, an art and music Pop-up and a celebration of the art and music of Magnus Johnstone.
Magnus Johnstone: Rapture is a gallery exhibition that features paintings by a man who was immersed in the Cambridge and Greater Boston arts scene that includes Hip-Hop, African, Reggae and other World Music genres through his perspective, not only as a painter, but through his passion for music as a trailblazing radio DJ.
Music provided by: Julia Mongo, World Music Director and Africa Kabisa radio host at MIT’s WMBR; DJ Cruz spinning sounds on turn- table (and digital), Sampling from Listening Stations, in a variety of formats, by Co-Hosts Pacey Foster, U Mass Hip-Hop Archive Director and Brian Coleman, Founder Good Roads, Author Wild Style Breakbeats; Talking Circles with audience members, and others including musician, activist and educator, Reebee Garofalo.
The gallery exhibition will be on view May 6 - June 28, 2019.
