Souvenir, a fantasia on the life of Florence Foster Jenkins, is the hilarious and sweetly inspiring true story of the wealthy socialite who enjoyed a remarkably successful concert career as a singer ... even though she was devoid of musical talent, deliriously tone-deaf and unaware that her devoted audiences found her a source of amusement. Stephen Temperley's story focuses on her accompanist, Cosme McMoon, who grows to admire, respect and even protect Jenkins' triumphant spirit and belief in herself. Nominated for Drama Desk and Tony Awards in its original 2004-2005 New York runs, Souvenir can now be seen at the Lyric Stage Company of Boston -- starring Leigh Barrett and Will McGarrahan, and directed by Spiro Veloudos.
