We're having a party! We'll bring the food and drinks, Hayley Sabella will bring her guitar and intimate lyrics, and you bring your ideas about what our music community needs to better support and highlight the work of womxn and nonbinary artists. Register today for this pay-what-you-can party and we will see you there. All money raised goes to paying artists at our upcoming festival of womxn and nonbinary artists, to be announced at the event!

Local Behavior is a new Boston-based music festival and mentorship initiative for womxn and nonbinary artists, and we're looking for people to get involved! This pay-what-you-can party is raising money that will be used to pay artists at our first Local Behavior Music Festival, coming to Boston on October 28, 2018. We'll also be asking you to write down your ideas for what you think a program like this can add to the local music community.

This kickoff party is pay-what-you-can (ticket registration: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/local-behavior-kickoff-party-tickets-48415991534) - we want everyone to come, enjoy some incredible music by Hayley Sabella and a second artist TBA, and tell us what you want to get out of something like this. We'll have food, drinks, music and a good hang in the beautiful space at WeWork Mass Ave. (thank you, WeWork!!). All money raised from this event will be used to pay artists at our first Local Behavior Music Festival on October 28, 2018.

LEARN MORE:

The mission of Local Behavior is to strengthen pathways to mentorship for emerging womxn and nonbinary artists, connect them across genres, and create new, inclusive performance spaces and opportunities. We do this in two ways: through year-round programming beginning fall 2018, and through a new music festival highlighting womxn and nonbinary artists coming to City Winery Boston on October 28, 2018!

Local Behavior seeks to foster an environment of respect and ever-increasing opportunity for womxn artists, starting on the local level. We believe that though one festival can’t change everything, by changing our Local Behavior, we can make a positive impact that reverberates throughout the music industry. This is our Local Behavior.

Local Behavior Music Festival is presented by Cornerscape.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Hayley Sabella hails mostly from the New England coast. Inspired by the dramatic landscape and vast seasonal changes that range as much in temperature as they do in color, she reaches for the earth itself in its various forms to give her a sense of belonging. Sabella's album Forgive the Birds is both earthbound and ethereal, revealing gripping melodies and intimate lyrics with an unabashedly earnest delivery. Her voice, described as “honeyed, but with a mild rasp” by Redline Roots, dances over a finger-picked 1965 hollow-body Gibson; a signature sound of the record and a staple in performance, they make for a pair that seems to know one another, trusted companions both in writing and in travel.
