Three shows: November 16, 17 and 18
Letters to Cleo was formed in Boston in 1990 by guitarist Greg McKenna and singer Kay Hanley. They initially called themselves Rebecca Lula and for the first few years, the band featured a rotating cast of musicians. In 1994, Greg and Kay recruited Michael Eisenstein on guitar, Stacy Jones on drums and Scott Riebling on bass to form the band’s first definite line up. They took their name from a reference to Kay’s childhood pen pal. Her ‘letters to Cleo’ often didn’t get a response and after rediscovering a box full of letters, the band adopted the name. They released their eponymous debut extended play in 1990 and their debut studio album (Aurora Gory Alice) in 1993. It brought them mainstream recognition due to one of its singles (Here and Now) being featured on Fox’s hit soap opera Melrose Place. They went on to have a stellar career with 6 more studio albums and 6 singles. The band split up in the year 2000, briefly united for a 2008 tour, and as of early 2016, has announced it’s back in the studio and working on a new extended play.
