Introducing the exemplary musician and gambist, Reiko Ichise, to our Sarasa family, this intimate program provides clear evidence why the bass viol was so revered by the Sun King, Louis XIV. As well as a celebration of the 350th anniversary of François Couperin’s birth, this will be a rare chance to hear re-discovered works by two of the finest players of Georgian England, who were also great friends, Carl Friedrich Abel and Giacobbe Cervetto.

Joseph Bodin de Boismortier: Sonate à deux violes en mi mineur, Op. X No. I
Domenico Galli: Sonata X in d minor for solo cello
Carl Friedrich Abel: Sonata in a minor for viola da gamba and continuo, Maltzan Sammlung
F Couperin: XIIIe Concert from Les goûts-réunis, ou Nouveaux concerts

Giacobbe Cervetto: Divertimento No. 1 in g minor for two cellos
Ste Colombe le fils: Tombeau pour Mr de Ste Colombe le père in f-sharp minor for viola da gamba
JS Bach: Sarabande from Suite No. 6 in D major, BWV 1012 for solo cello
Abel: Sonata in G major for viola da gamba and cello, Pembroke Collection

Reiko Ichise, viola da gamba; Jennifer Morsches, Baroque cello and piccolo cello
