Join Museum President Frank Romano on Saturday, May 11th, at 1 p.m. for a captivating lecture on the “History of Phototypesetting”.
The era of phototypesetting lasted only 50 years but dramatically changed the history of printing before it disappeared. A method of setting type, phototypesetting used a photographic process to generate type on photographic film or paper. Fonts existed as strips, segments, disks, and more. The Museum of Printing has the largest collection of “cold type” equipment and ephemera in the world. Hear all about it from foremost authority, Frank Romano, and see the archaic machines that paved the way for desktop publishing and digital printing.
