What is it like earning more money than your partner, or being the solo breadwinner in your family or relationship?
Today, 49 percent of employed women in the United States, including 42 percent of working women with children, say they work primarily because they are their family's main breadwinner, according to a joint NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll. That's up from 37 percent in 2000.
Join us to hear the perspectives of a panel of women that are responsible for earning the primary income in their household. Discussion themes will include:
How it feels when you start making more than your spouse
How to take money out of the relationship equation
Why household chores are often not divided equally
What’s it’s like when you’re the planner but your spouse isn’t
How to take career risks with the pressure of being the breadwinner
How to discuss the social norms/pressures of being the breadwinner
