The City of Quincy will celebrate Labor Day Weekend and America’s 250th anniversary with a special fireworks display over Quincy Bay, honoring the generations of working men and women who helped build America over the past 250 years.

Mayor Thomas P. Koch announced the fireworks as a tribute to the workers whose contributions are an important part of Quincy’s—and America’s—history, from the City’s granite industry and shipyards to the tradespeople who continue to build the community today.

“We all know our history in Quincy is a vital part of the American story, and it goes beyond those Revolutionary giants Adams and Hancock,” Koch said. “From our granite industry to the shipyard workers spanning generations, to the thousands of our neighbors in the trades who still call Quincy home – this country was built by working men and women, and its future depends on them.”

“Over the years, we’ve talked about a fireworks show in the heart of Quincy Bay, and I can think of no better occasion than Labor Day Weekend and our 250th anniversary to make it happen,” Koch added.
