Boston-based ensemble In Stile Moderno is gaining a reputation for its stylish and engaging performances of seventeenth-century music. For the final concert of their 2018-2019 season, the group’s early music specialists are joined for the first time by multi-instrumentalist Dan Meyers and Italian folk percussionist and singer Fabio Pirozzolo in an exploration of the musical landscape of southern Italy, combining rarely-heard works by Neapolitan composers Andrea Falconieri, Girolamo Montesardo and Simone Coya with traditional tarantellas. This exuberant concert will marry the timbres of voice, cornetto and theorbo with the driving rhythms of tambourine, castanets and guitar. Fans of folk music and early music alike will find something to enjoy and something new to discover!
