Please join us for an afternoon in the light-filled Calderwood Courtyard to experience chamber music performances inspired by late 19th- and early 20th-century paintings in the museums’ collections. Cellist Guy Fishman, violinist Renée Hemsing, and pianist Renana Gutman will perform sonatas by Claude Debussy and a piano trio by Maurice Ravel.

Before and after the concert, guests are invited to visit the galleries to see the artwork linked to each piece of music.

The schedule of performances is as follows:

2–2:20pm

Sonata for Cello and Piano, L. 135 (1915), by Claude Debussy (1862–1918)

See Claude Monet’s Charing Cross Bridge: Fog on the Thames, 1903, located on Level 2 in Gallery 2700.

2:30–2:50pm

Sonata for Violin and Piano in G Minor, L. 140 (1917), by Debussy

See Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s The Hangover [Suzanne Valadon], 1887–89, located on Level 1 in Gallery 1220.

3–3:20pm

Piano Trio for Piano, Violin, and Cello in A Minor (1914), by Maurice Ravel (1875–1937)
