In 1989, attorney Bryan Stevenson founded the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama. The EJI is committed to racial justice and works on ending mass incarceration, economic injustice, and protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable. EJI is best known perhaps for the book and movie, Just Mercy and for its lynching memorial, called the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, which opened in 2018. The lynching memorial is the first to honor the thousands of Black people who have been lynched in this country. Our EJI speaker will talk about the organization's racial justice work and take us on a tour of the Legacy Museum. Watch it live on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwNmK4deY7Q Note: This will be live only, not recorded.
