Chorus pro Musica and the Bang on a Can All-Stars present the Boston premiere of Julia Wolfe's Anthracite Fields, conducted by CpM Music Director Jamie Kirsch. Winner of the 2015 Pulitzer Prize in Music, Anthracite Fields is built from the voices of Pennsylvania coal miners — their words, their names, their lives. Julia Wolfe spent years researching the anthracite region, interviewing retired miners and descending into the mines herself. The result is a work for choir and ensemble unlike anything else on the concert stage, performed here with the full immersive video design by Jeff Sugg. The Bang on a Can All-Stars, who helped bring this piece into existence, have performed it to sold-out houses across the country. In 2023, the BSO's Julia Wolfe programming sold out Symphony Hall three nights running. This is the Boston premiere of Anthracite Fields. Cutler Majestic Theatre, 219 Tremont Street, Boston.
