THE MENU
Josephine celebrates the evolution of Italian cuisine with a nod to classics and a wink to modern interpretations. Classic pizzas and creative contemporary pizza pies are at the heart of the restaurant's concept: Jo’s Classic Deep Dish Pizza made with a butter crust, whole milk mozzarella + Linny Ray’s Sauce; Rosemary’s Baby pizza made with roasted chicken, potato, fontina + caramelized onion; Frank’s White 2.0 with white clam sauce, pecorino + a ton of garlic. Also: Josephine’s Dry Aged Burger on a focaccia roll, overnight onion jam, muenster + aioli served with oven steak fries; Veal Tonnato smoked + chilled veal shoulder with arugula + caper vinaigrette; Roasted Olives with orange peel and chiles; Warm Focaccia with tomatoes, Crecenza cheese + lemon.
BAR PROGRAM
Negronis and martinis will fly out from behind the bar alongside tumblers of Italian and American wines and beers. Martinis on tap will be garnished with unique varieties of stuffed olives and homemade gelatins in fresh flavors like rhubarb and citrus transporting guests to the streets of Italy.
DESIGN
Personal photos of Scelfo’s family and family trips will hang next to playful monochrome drawings by local artist Christopher DeLorenzo--a close friend of Michael’s, who will also illustrate the menu. Soft industrial-style lighting complements Josephine’s Carerra marble, penny tile flooring, long white marble bar, and high wooden ceilings. Josephine will also feature ample outdoor seating, with a dedicated bar and firepit for al fresco dining.
ABOUT THE CHEF
Michael Scelfo owns internationally acclaimed restaurants Alden & Harlow, Waypoint, and The Longfellow Bar. Conde Nast Traveler named Alden & Harlow one of the "Best Restaurants in the World" and in 2017, Food & Wine magazine named Waypoint one of their "Best New Restaurants." Additionally, Alden & Harlow has been featured in Bon Appetit magazine as one of 50 nominees for "America's Best New Restaurants."
