The MIT Museum is delighted to host 3D printing pioneer Josef Průša ("everyone is a maker, only I am a printer"), for a talk to share Prusa Research's printer history and plans, and their collaborations with the Museum, MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms, and the Fab Foundation.
Josef Průša is a Czech entrepreneur, engineer, and one of the most influential figures in consumer 3D printing. He began designing 3D printers as a teenager and became deeply involved in the open-source RepRap project, where his innovations helped shape modern desktop 3D printing. In 2012, he founded Prusa Research, which grew from a small basement operation into a global manufacturer employing over a thousand people, producing hundreds of thousands of printers, and operating Europe’s largest filament production facility—without any external investment.
Josef’s work has earned international recognition, including the EY Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award and the Medal of Merit for economic achievements, reflecting his long-term vision of making 3D printing accessible and useful in everyday life.
Prusa Research is currently the largest manufacturer of desktop 3D printers in Europe and, following the opening of its production facility in Delaware, also the largest on the American continent.
A reception will follow the event.
This program is free with Museum admission. While walk-ins are welcome, advance registration is recommended to reserve your spot.
