Hop on a boat to Choate Island and go for a 3-mile guided jaunt with views of Essex Bay. The island has a variety of birds and animals who inhabit the surrounding salt marsh and spruce forest. This hike is approachable for beginners, and you should bring multiple non-cotton layers to protect from wind as well as sneakers or other footwear you don't mind getting muddy.
