On September 16, 2022, Mahsa Jina Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman, died in police custody in Iran after being arrested for "improper" veiling. Her death set off unprecedented protests nationwide under the Kurdish slogan "Women, Life, Freedom,” resulting in thousands of arrests, detainments, and several executions.

Iran’s Women, Life, Freedom Movement: One Year Later, a panel discussion presented by the Crown Center for Middle East Studies and in conjunction with the Rose’s exhibition Arghavan Khosravi: Black Rain, will explore where the movement is today and its short-and long-term political, cultural, and economic impact.

The program is free and open to all and will be presented in-person and available online for live streaming. Middle Eastern fare and refreshments will be served.

Registration is required:
