A walk in the woods will yield many animal signs to the aware human. In this class, we will look at animal tracks, scat, fur, and any other signs that animals left behind and learn how to identify from which animal the track was left.
Experienced naturalist and tracker Bob Metcalfe will lead the group on a winter tracking hike. Bob will begin with a short presentation in the Botume House, followed by an educational hike through the Middlesex Fells. Bob will share his insights into the secret world of woodland animals through the messages written in their tracks. Participants will leave with tracking tips to understand the movement of animals through the forest.
This event is open to all ages, however, very small children should be carried, and not brought in a stroller. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy, waterproof shoes, as the trails may be muddy.
