Structural Query Language (SQL) is a database programming language used by data analysts, data scientists, marketers, managers, and anyone else who uses data to make informed business choices.
It's one of the most in-demand skills companies look for when hiring for data-focused roles, which is why this summer is a great time to learn a skill that can complement your current studies and make you a more desirable candidate when you enter the job market!
In this one-day workshop, you'll learn about the ways businesses store and access structured data, foundational approaches to segmenting, querying, and retrieving that data in SQL, and you'll leave with the tools and knowledge to make data-driven business decisions.
This hands-on workshop is hosted by Level, Northeastern University's data analytics accelerator. In this six-hour session, you will:
- Learn how relational databases are designed and implemented
- Work with MySQL databases to access and query data
- Use MySQL to answer business questions
There are no prerequisites, but we recommend you come with a basic understanding of Excel, statistics, and/or charts. Please be sure to bring your laptop. SQL downloads will be sent to participants prior to the workshop.
