No one likes being ghosted, but many of us are guilty of doing it to others. Sometimes it’s easier to never text a person back than it is to tell them you’re no longer interested.

Let’s have some integrity and challenge ourselves to make our actions match our ideals. Be the change you wish to see in dating!

In this workshop, we’ll learn the art of graciously (and honestly) letting a date know that you want to end things. We’ll talk about appropriate ways to opt out when you’re just starting to chat with someone (e.g. on an app), when you’ve been on a date or two, and when you’re in a more serious relationship. (Also, a lot of this applies to friends as well.)

This is an interactive workshop where you will brainstorm and practice (!) a variety of approaches to rejection.

FAQS:

Q: $$$$$?

A: We’re asking for a $5-15 suggested donation. No one will be turned away for a lack of funds. If paying is an obstacle for you, don’t pay.

Q: What if I am worried about my safety when cutting contact with a person?

A: This workshop is about how to end things when you feel safe doing so. If you are uncertain about your safety, you should do whatever feels safest, even if that means ghosting.

Q: What values inform your approach to this topic? (lol who am I kidding? no one actually asks that — but I want to answer it, so...)

A: We will approach this topic with the values of sex-positivity, consent, gender equality, and honest communication.

Q: Is it wheelchair accessible?

A: We will be in the Rosa Parks Room, which is wheelchair accessible, but the bathroom on site is not ADA compliant. Wheelchair users are welcome to use the accessible restroom at Daedalus while improvements for bathroom accessibility are being planned. To reach that bathroom, exit the ramp and turn left on Bow St, at the next building (Daedalus) use their accessible entrance and their restroom will be on the right.
