"Dearly beloved children, may you live long..."
As spring warms our hands and days, let's come together in community and resilience. The Horizon Ensemble presents We Will Outlive Them, a concert remembering the history of the Holocaust. Join us on Saturday, April 18 at 7:30 PM in the Church of the Covenant on 67 Newbury Street.
We start with Different Trains by Steve Reich for string quartet and type, which contrasts American long-distance trains with European Holocaust trains. The Janelle Gilchrist Dance Troupe will join us in bringing this piece to life. Then, we present We Will Outlive Them... Letters to Rivka from Galicia. Composed by Quinn Gutman and premiering in a new orchestration by Julian Gau, this piece will feature singers Ai Ra, Evan Nelson, Jessica Bloch, Isabel Merat, & Nadia Ruberg. The piece sets to music Jessica Bloch's family letters, telling of trials, troubles, and hope.
This is a pay-what-you-can concert, with suggested donation of $25. We will collect donations in person at the concert, or you can find us on Venmo at @HorizonEnsemble. Posters, stickers, and other merchandise will be available for purchase! Please register online on our Eventbrite page: https://eventbrite.com/e/1985596167588/
This concert is wheelchair-accessible. No bright or flashing lights are allowed at this event. If you can't make it in person, there will be a YouTube livestream: https://youtube.com/live/CTzCleTcUmc
See you soon!
