Part of the Race in the Public Dialogue Series: Honoring Robert Gould Shaw and the Massachusetts 54th Regiment: “The Power and Presence of Women,” highlights the role of female contributors Harriett Tubman and Charlotte Forten. Significantly, July 18th is the date of the 54th’s first major battle at Fort Wagner, South Carolina and is a celebrated site of the Civil War. Authors Nicole Terez Dutton and Assistant Professor, Wellesley College, Dr. Kellie Jackson, joins the Museum’s Director of Education, L’Merchie Frazier for the discussion.
