Walking Tour: 5:30-6:30pm:

Stroll past 'Bee' members' homes, and hear their stories; all in the Hooper-Lee-Nichols House vicinity. Tour led by Steve Pinkerton. Meet in front of the Longfellow House National Historic Site, 105 Brattle Street at 5:30pm.

History Cafe, 6:30-8pm:

A parlor conversation with Steve Pinkerton & Pamela Baldwin about two 'craftivist' moments- Cambridge’s own Civil War ‘Bee,’ and the recent ‘Pussyhat Project;' moderated by Diana Lempel. Also a look at the Society's 'Bee' collections, with intern Heather Larson.

Libations and light snacks.

Bring your knitting!

CHS Council member Pamela Baldwin is an art historian and administrator at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. A longtime knitter, she is a newly-active craftivist with a deep interest in the intersection of domestic practice, material culture, and social movements.

Stephen Pinkerton is volunteer docent at Mount Auburn Cemetery, where he gives history-themed talks and serves as resident genealogist. His interest in 'The Bee' grew from desigining a walking tour at Mount Auburn Cemetery, where 27 'Bee' members are buried.

Diana Lempel is Founder and Principal of Practice Space in Inman Square, Cambridge; and a PhD student at Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Heather Larson is a collections intern at the Cambridge Historical Society and is currently working towards an A.L.M. in Museum Studies at the Harvard University Extension School.
