Hike Mt. Israel - Great First Winter Hike

Mount Israel via Wentworth Trail is a 3.8 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Center Sandwich, New Hampshire that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. This mountain is on the 52 With A View (52 WAV) list, which means it has some killer sights from the top. This is a great beginner winter hike as long as you have the gear listed below and exercise regularly with aerobics.

Distance: 3.7 mi

Elevation gain: 1,756 ft

Descent: 1,723 ft

Expectations

We will attempt to go at a stable speed throughout the hike, and even if you do come well-prepared but are having a difficult time keeping up, no worries. We'll do our best to stay together, or, you will need to have the grace to turn back and wait for us at the parking area.

Gear:

1) insulated hiking boots (no trail runners)

2) Non-cotton base layers for core and legs

3) Non-cotton socks

4) Waterproof shell for core and pants

5) Waterproof gloves (not small cotton gloves)

6) 2 - 3 liters of water to be kept inside of your backpack and somehow insulated

7) A lot of food, including sandwich, snacks, etc

8) Electrolytes, gatorade, etc, seriously bring this

11) Extra non-cotton layers
