Hike Mount Martha and Owlshead (52 WAV)

The snow may be turning to mush and mud, but the weather this Saturday looks too good to pass up! We'll keep things short and sweet on a well-trafficked trail.

Mount Martha and Owlshead (the shorter hike, better views than the similarly named 4,000 footer Owls Head) are subpeaks of Cherry Mountain and hiking both will count as one peak on the 52 WAV list. Both Mount Martha and Owlshead offer some of the best views of the Presidential Mountains, Cannon Mountain Franconia Ridge and the surrounding peaks in the White Mountains on ledges at the summit. The plan for this hike is to hike to go to Mount Martha first before heading to Owlshead then turning back afterwards to Mount Martha and back down to the trailhead. Due to the short nature of this hike, if the weather is good on the day of the hike, we can chill at the summit and enjoy the views for awhile before heading back down. The total distance of this hike is 4.8 miles.

1) Insulated boots

2) Non-cotton layers

3) 2 -3 liters of water insulated

4) Snack and food

5) Microspikes

6) Gaiters
