“This is a good sign, having a broken heart. It means we have tried for something.” ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

When a relationship ends, the pain we experience is so intense, it feels as if it will never end. In addition to the usual symptoms - difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, sadness, apathy, and even despair - heartache can reinforce negative beliefs about ourselves stemming from previous experiences of failure, loss, and rejection. Healing the broken heart requires diving into our pain, and confronting these negative beliefs. This is a frightening process, but one that we avoid at our peril. Negative emotions - anger, jealousy, resentment, and sadness - can remain lodged in our bodies and wreak havoc on our mental and physical health as well as on future relationships.

Danuza Aquino is the founder of the Star of Life Healing Center. A transformational healer, holistic therapist, and personal growth coach, she has helped hundreds of individuals to overcome the pain of heartache through a step-by-step process of unearthing and working through past trauma and open up to love again.
