Sanctuary City is an intimate play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Martyna Majok about friendship, trust, and the sacrifices we make for the people we love. In post-9/11 Newark, teenagers B and G hatch a plan to get married so B can gain citizenship, all while navigating tests, prom, and the universal stressors and joys of adolescence. But as time moves forward and the stakes grow higher, their plan threatens to fracture the closest relationship either of them has ever had. Poignant and deeply human, Sanctuary City explores how we can create a better world when institutions fail us.
