This year’s exciting showcase highlights the hopeful imagination of emerging literary voices as well as acclaimed Boston-based artists in dance, drag, and music, providing a taste of our vibrant community; as the largest literary arts center of our kind in the US, GrubStreet engages 10,000 teens and adults annually, including students from 44 countries and 49 states as together we write a more just and connected world.
Our Lit Up fundraiser features artists across disciplines including Jonathan Todd, Graphic Novelist and GrubStreet Teaching Fellowship for Black Writers Recipient; the City of Boston’s Youth Poet Laureate & former GrubStreet Teen Summer Fellow Parker-Vincent Alva; the humbly self professed Greatest Star of the Greater Boston area, chic chanteuse, quick witted comedienne drag artist Patty Bourrée; Lorena Leonard, award-winning filmmaker and memoir incubator alum; internationally recognized dance ensemble SambaViva, dedicated to authentically presenting and promoting Brazilian culture; and Victor Yang, a GrubStreet Instructor and community organizer for racial and immigrant justice.
The program will be followed by a lively reception with food and drink.
Please note that tickets are valued at $150, but you may select from our “pay what you will” ticket options. Your donation will help ensure equal access to creative writing instruction, and publishing opportunities, and support writers in our community in bringing urgent narratives to light across the globe.
