The service will take us back to Good Friday in 1580’s Munich with music by Orlando di Lasso. It will include Good Friday readings, as well as the ancient tradition of extinguishing 15 candles as was practiced historically on Good Friday.
The choral masterworks include settings of the "Lamentations of Jeremiah," also known as the "Tenebrae Lessons", Lasso's "De Profundis," "Miserere Mei Deus," and his astonishingly expressive "Timor et tremor," which was regarded by his contemporaries as a supreme model in musical rhetoric.
