he Boston area played a pivotal role in the evolution of American belly dance. What made the Boston scene unique was the intermingling of immigrant communities - Armenians, Greeks, Syrians and then later, Lebanese. This presentation will give an overview of the key clubs, musicians, and dancers of the 'Golden Era' of Boston belly dance of the 1950s - 1980s. Our presenter, Amy Smith, has studied, taught, and performed belly dance for over 25 years in the Boston area.
