Join the Boston Coalition at the Girl Up Advocacy Bootcamp on April 6th from 11am-2pm! It will be held at Oficio, 136 Brookline Ave, 2nd floor, Boston, MA, 02215. The goal of the event is to not only teach girls how to advocate for issues they care about, but to also lobby for an important piece of legislation!
We will have speakers from the Metrowest Commission on the Status of Women and the Girl Up Boston Coalition to teach attendees about why youth advocacy is important and how young girls can take action to make real political change. After the speakers, attendees will get to put the skills they learned into action, and they'll have the opportunity to lobby! This year, Girl Up is lobbying for the Keeping Girls in School Act and at the Advocacy Bootcamp attendees will have the opportunity write letters and make phone calls to their federal legislatures about the bill. The Keeping Girls in School Act is a bipartisan bill designed to ensure that U.S. foreign assistance addresses the barriers that keep more than 130 million girls ages 6-17 globally who should be in school from enrolling, attending, and graduating.
All are welcome, and no previous involvement in Girl Up is necessary. Any questions or concerns about the event should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
