GIIA

New York City-based electronic vocalist GIIA creates atmospheric music inspired by trap and pop. GIIA, a Berklee alumna, started her vocal career in opera. Shortly after graduating from the college, she worked at Sterling Sound studio in Manhattan. After working with many producers there who exposed GIIA to a whole new genre, she began experimenting with making electronic music in her apartment, utilizing her opera-trained voice to craft a unique and original sound.

Her debut feature track “One,” produced by MEMBA, was released in June 2016 and has been featured on AXS, This Song Is Sick, Run the Trap, and Dancing Astronauts’ Top Trending Chart. Ending 2016 with her two latest releases, “Heat of the Moment,” which amassed 1.5 million plays across streaming platforms, and “Brave,” which reached no. 1 on Hype Machine’s popular chart, GIIA has proven herself to be an artist to watch in 2017.

Well-versed in opera, but always listening to and fascinated by contemporary music, GIIA did a 180 when she decided to apply to Berklee. While at the college, she fell in love with the music business working at the Red Room at Cafe 939 on the promotions and marketing team. “It is a dream to come back and perform at the venue where I worked so hard for four years,” said GIIA.
