The Red Room at Cafe 939 proudly presents Fresh Prospects, a free concert series spotlighting emerging artists. Curated by Berklee students with an ear for talent, this series offers an intimate glimpse into the music scene’s future, featuring local performers making waves and capturing attention.
Bar Bad is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, whistler, and Berklee alum whose music feels like memory, movement, and a little bit of chaos. Based between Boston and New York, he draws from alternative rock, experimental music, and the sounds of the Middle East to create songs that are honest, cinematic, and difficult to categorize.
Born and raised in Iran, his work carries a quiet sense of distance and longing, yet never loses its pulse.
On stage, Bar Bad uses his voice, whistle, and silence as instruments. His songs move between longing and release, exile and tenderness, the body that remembers and the heart that keeps pretending it has forgotten. He is currently working on his debut album.
Jazz Cuti is a French pianist, singer-songwriter, and producer of Martinican origin based in Boston. Raised on her DJ father's vinyl collection, she grew up listening to African American music (hip-hop, funk, and soul), UK electronic music, and Caribbean sounds. This eclectic blend of influences and cultures has shaped her distinctive musical style.
She began her musical journey with classical piano at the age of five. After graduating from both the conservatory and high school, she started producing and writing her own songs and decided to pursue jazz studies at IMEP Paris College of Music. There, she cofounded the electronic jazz trio No Click with two friends.
Jazz Cuti now continues to refine her craft at Berklee College of Music, where she studies on a full-tuition scholarship. In 2024, she released her first solo project, CLASSIC ONE, a three-track R&B EP infused with electronic and urban influences. Inspired by artists such as Solange, Kaytranada, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Sampha, she is currently working on her debut album.
