The evening will include a set by the duo of Franck Vigroux (live electronics) & Ulrich Krieger (saxophone, pedal board) performing Dodécaèdre as well as a solo by Rachel Devorah (live electronics on a bespoke MOTM synthesizer system)

FRANCK VIGROUX is a multifaceted artist whose works range from experimental electronic music to modern composition and music theatre. Franck Vigroux’s music is made of tectonic tensions, beats, electronic textures and a very personal approach to sonic exploration. Equally prolific as a solo artist and as a collaborator, he has worked with musicians such as Mika Vainio, Reinhold Friedl, and Ars Nova... Vigroux’s unique artistic approach often integrates new media and the performing arts. He designs transdisciplinary shows and audiovisual concerts, collaborating with visual artists such as Antoine Schmitt and Kurt d’Haeseleer. His most recent recordings have been released on Raster-Noton.

ULRICH KRIEGER is a German contemporary composer, performer, improviser and experimental rock musician, who is currently based in Los Angeles. Krieger’s artistic work spans a broad range from contemporary classical composition and free improvisation to the combination of electronic music, rock, metal, and noise. In his work, he explores the boundaries between acoustically and electronically produced sounds. He has developed a style of playing he calls “acoustic electronics.” Acoustic electronics is about using sounds that appear to be electronic but are actually produced on acoustic instruments. Over the years, he has collaborated with a wide array of artists and organizations including Phill Niblock, Text of Light, Lee Ranaldo, Phill Niblock, John Duncan, Zbigniew Karkowski, Merzbow, Thomas Köner, Christian Marclay, Kasper T Toeplitz, Antoine Beuger, Radu Malfatti, Ensemble Modern, the Berlin Philharmonic, Soldier String Quartet, and zeitkratzer.

RACHEL DEVORAH is a sonic artist and feminist technologist. She is employed as an Assistant Professor of Electronic Production and Design | Creative Coding at the Berklee College of Music; and as a Councilor for AFT-MA Local 4412, AFL-CIO. She practices improvisation with bespoke electronics and French horn (her mother tongue). She also creates audio-visual structures by these means which seek to reveal and reframe habits of autoecholocation (situating oneself with/in sound/space). She values machines for their patience. Sometimes she puts notes on a page.

Co-presented by the Goethe-Institut Boston, Non-Event and Villa Albertine
