Come to Beacon Hill for an evening of fashion and history with historical garments and accessories!
Reuse, Reduce and Recycle isn't just a modern concept.
Come join the Curator, Liz Weisblatt and get an in-depth look at how 19th century women reused fabric to be thrifty and yet remain fashionable. Pieces featured will be from the over 7,000 piece costume collection housed onsite at the William Hickling Prescott House. Each object shown will include the evidence of each piece’s former life.
Built in 1809 the William Hickling Prescott House was saved in 1944 by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and has been their headquarters ever since, the garments in the collection were worn by ancestors of the society.
Collection highlights will include mostly dresses as well as accessories.
