LOCATION: Zoom/Virtual Challenge
GOAL: Fundraise $200,000+
For more than 10 years, Bostonians have gathered at the end of February to ride in solidarity with neighbors experiencing homelessness and to raise money to help.
Traditionally, HomeStart’s ICycle has been a spin bike marathon, taking place outside One International Place and Kendall Center in the bitter New England cold – a not-so-subtle reminder that not everyone has the comforts of a warm home. This year, it’s being held as a range of classes that you can join right from home! Check out all of our events to see the variety of classes being offered.
The importance of home is especially felt now, when it serves as a workplace, classroom, and safe haven. And yet, according to a recent survey by the US Census Bureau, nearly 27 percent of the Massachusetts adult population is at risk of eviction or foreclosure in the next two months. Through this event you’ll be helping HomeStart to intervene and help stabilize households like these who are in crisis, ensuring that this moment of disruption doesn’t spiral into a cycle of homelessness.
HomeStart is a nonprofit working to end and prevent homelessness in Greater Boston. Our approach is three-pronged: Housing Search, helping families and individuals who are staying in shelters or living on the street to find and move into permanent housing; Housing Stabilization, providing essential support services to ensure that clients have the best chance at maintaining their housing after transitioning out of homelessness; Prevention, intervening to help households at risk of eviction to stay safely in their homes by providing court advocacy and financial assistance.
To date, HomeStart has permanently housed more than 12,000 people out of homelessness and prevented more than 2,500 households from being put out through eviction- with 95% of those households remaining securely housed even 48 months after the intervention.

For a full week participants will have access to instructor led fitness classes taking place via Zoom and outdoors, when possible, to feel the full impact of a harsh New England winter. We encourage participants to invite friends, start teams and help fundraise to help end homelessness!!
