From the chaos following Lexington and Concord in April 1775 to raising the Grand Union flag on Prospect Hill in January 1776, the siege of Boston saw eight turbulent months of missteps, rivalries, and disorganization. Yet from this turmoil emerged the first truly American army - united in purpose and forging a new national identity.
